Mt. Hakodate Observatory(Hakodate)

The observatory provides a panoramic view of Hakodate and its environs. Enjoy the beautiful panorama in the comfort of ropeway.

Mt. Hakodate at a height of 334m above sea level is a tourist spot which regardless of the season is crowded with a large number of tourists. The view which one gets gazing from the summit's observatory has been awarded three stars by the world famous travel guide, "Michelin Green Guide Japon". The angle of the view which is commanded from the observatory and the peculiar terrain which is encircled by the sea on either side, the distance from the base of the mountain and the city, all produce a superb location which has the best view.

It takes about 3 minutes to reach the summit by taking the ropeway. Due to the large gondola installed in November 2014, let's enjoy the scenery outside the windows which dynamically spreads out. In November 2015, the observatory was also renovated, becoming a more comfortable space. The night view is a must see, the daytime scenery on a clear day commands a view of distant Aomori which is also recommended. Please enjoy the beautiful panoramas which this area boasts to the world.
