Kijihiki Plateau(Hokuto)

A viewing spot which is representative of Hokuto city.
A must see is the gallant shape of the shinkansen from the panorama observation platform.

Kijihiki Plateau spreads out half way up Mt. Kijihiki which lies at a height of 683m above sea level. That "panoramic observatory" is a view spot that is representative of Hokuto. On very clear days, it is possible to see as far as Mt. Hakodate and Hakodate city, Ōnuma Quasi-National Park and Mt. Komagatake and also the distant Mt. Yotei and the Bay of Funka. It is also an ideal location for photographing and gazing at the figure of the Hokkaido Shinkansen galloping along drawing a large arc.

It is possible to spend time comfortably while viewing the beautiful scenery from the indoor observatory facility which was completed in April 2015.
And there is also a campsite halfway up Mt. Kijihiki, as besides tents bungalows have been erected, camping can be enjoyed with a light heart.
Gazing at Hakodate's night view while enjoying camping, the popularity of Hakodate as a new night viewing spot is increasing as the beauty of this prospect is somewhat different from Mt. Hakodate.
