- The area surrounding Kikonai station
Enjoy the traditional culture and historical heritage in the areas that were broken up a long time ago even in Hokkaido.
Kikonai, where a Hokkaido Shinkansen train station has been established is a town which is known for the traditional Shinto "mid-winter purification ritual".
The Sea of Japan coast from Matsumae to Esashi flourished as a commercial base for cargo ships to the extent that the song "Edo ni mo nai Haru"(A springtime not seen in Edo) sang its praises.
Even within Hokkaido in this area that was broken up a long time ago, a lot of historical heritage and traditional culture originated from esashi oiwake music and (a kind of traditional folk music from Hokkaidō) is now being handed down to the next generation.
