Mt. Rishiri stands as a symbol of Rishiri Island and it was selected as one of Japan's 100 most scenic peaks. It is also known at Rishiri Fuji and appears on the packaging of Hokkaido sweets brand "Shiroi Koibito." The mountain is picturesque and makes the whole island appear to jut out from the ocean toward its peak. The island has a number of spots of stunning beauty where you can enjoy nature at its best. There are also many varieties of alpine flora that grow there, too.

Rebun Island in the Sea of Japan is Japan's northernmost island. The island has around 300 species of wildflowers that bloom seasonally, including Rebun lady's slipper orchid, Rebun Kin-bai-so, and Rebun usuyuki-so, earning it the nickname flower island. Nature trails are a great way to explore and interact with the island's nature. There are many trails including the Momoiwa Observatory and Misaki Meguri that take between two to five hours to complete. Why not try one of these trails that is best suited to your fitness level.
